Travel Information Departure: Watamu/Diani/Nairobi JKIA Arrival: Malindi Duration: Half day Shopping in Malindi - A visit to Malindi is a must. It is a quiet town of about 47,000 inhabitants where cultures and religions of various tribes and nationalities coexist and blend.
The city is known for its vast white sandy beaches, famous resorts and its unimaginable corners of local life that are a sight to behold for tourists.
This excursion will guide you through the streets of the city center to discover the historic center, the old market, its coast, falconry and the wood factory. The historic center is famous for its old-world charm and its colorful and chaotic markets, teeming with vendors of all kinds, which offer the opportunity to observe numerous scenes of local daily life. The old market, in particular, offers the sight, colors and smells of a typical African market, where you can buy local handicrafts. Also very characteristic is the falconry activity, which allows you to get close to different animal species, including giant tortoises, crocodiles, bushbabies, baboons, iguanas, monitor lizards and, of course, all the species of birds of prey, both diurnal and nocturnal, that populate Africa (hawks, vultures, eagles, owls and more). Also quite typical is the wood factory, an almost obligatory stop for those who spend half a day exploring the streets of Malindi.
Here you can watch local craftsmen at work and buy their wooden creations, in particular beautiful statuettes and masks typical of the ancient continent.
