Half day excursions, The ruins of the city of Gede are located 5km from Watamu and is the most important archaeological site on the coast. The word "Gede" comes from the Oromo dialect and means "precious". This place is surrounded by baobab vegetation. The ruins concern the ancient merchant city of Gedi, dating back to between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries. The three mosques and the sultan's house are particularly noteworthy. The objects found in the houses are kept in the museum inaugurated in 2000 and can be visited at the end of the tour. Also, at the entrance we will be greeted by many friendly monkeys who welcome you, I usually buy bananas, so we also make them happy because they are used to humans and are not dangerous.
